Cassandra Jernberg will likely finish 16th in the mile at the 2013 USA swimming winter nationals in Knoxville TN. Still to go are 8 athletes in tonight's evening heat. Great meet for Cass!
Hannah swam to a 9th place finish in the prelims of the 200 yd fly at the USA National Championships this morning in Knoxville, TN. Her time of 1:58.23 establishes and new state and team mark. Cassandra will race the Mile later this afternoon and then Hannah will compete in finals.
Hannah swam a strong race and was out well at the 50 at 25.5. The last 25 was a little slower but a great result overall! First points at a USA swimming nationals!
Hannah swam to 54.0 this morning in her first race at nationals this morning and established a new team record in the process. She came right back in the 200 free and swam a great race with little rest at 1:50. Good start!

After a sleepy morning, Cassandra got it going with 3 best times in 1 swim. 54.0, 1:50.9 and 4:44.75 to crush the C Final! New Team and State Record too!
This is how it went down So I went out on a bike ride in the snow this morning (see photo of just me). It was just like any other day. We were riding home and Patrick said, "Do you want to take a photo, it looks pretty outside?" I shrugged and said sure. He was fiddling around and I was getting a bit cold. Hannah and Cassandra made it but by circuitous route that entailed a bus to Chicago a flight to Philadelphia and finally Knoxville. Pool is very nice. Racing begins tomorrow with Cass in the 500.
Three team records that have stood for a very long time were erased at WGLO. Hannah Saiz broke Shari Countryman's 200 Fly and Lindsey Highstroms's 100 Fly records and Gwen Worlton broke Kathy Treible's long time mark in the 100 Breast. Great swimming!
